No, we can start therapy prior to obtaining a medical script, however it must be obtained within 30 days of starting care.
We highly recommend scheduling an appointment with your doctor prior to your initial evaluation to avoid any gaps in your care plan and progress. Scripts must be written for pelvic floor physical therapy by a physician (MD or DO), CRNP, PA-C, or a Certified Nurse-Midwife. Scripts can be faxed to 717-326-1844.

Pelvic Reset is specialized in pelvic health for women, treating the whole-body, aiming to find the root cause instead of a quick fix. We know it can be hard to make time for you, so we make it easy and provide appointments in-home or in our focused clinic space - whatever works best for you!

I HIGHLY recommend internal examinations (we will chat about this in depth later) to determine what may or may not be important to address in regard to your symptoms, however we will work within your comfort zone and consent while only performing the relevant examination techniques that make you fully comfortable. We may agree to do it in the initial evaluation, first subsequent visit, or when we mutually agree it to be beneficial. You are always welcome to have a support person present.

IT DEPENDS. Most of our patients see a difference in their symptoms within 1-2 visits but it can vary depending on symptom quantity, severity, awareness, and duration. Many women notice the largest initial or most consistent difference in their symptoms around 6 weeks.

YES AND PLEASE DO! Pelvic floor therapist follow the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (ACOG) Guidelines avoiding internal pelvic floor muscle assessment and treatment in the first trimester unless indicated by a physician or other medical practitioner.

You can honestly start therapy as early as you'd like, as long as you have no specific medical limitations after birth per your OBGYN or midwife. Hormones change and healing occurs at a rapid rate immediately postpartum, so my suggestion is that if you are not in moderate to severe pain, maybe wait a few weeks until you are mentally ready - but this is a great phone consultation or in-person conversation to discuss further and weigh your individual needs. Pelvic floor therapists do not perform internal pelvic floor muscle assessments and treatments until your OBGYN or midwife clears you to resume penetration. We can always work breast feeding, pumping, or bottle feeding into your session - don't sweat it!
