Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
No, but we do take insurance indirectly. Pelvic Reset is considered out-of-network, which means that it is possible that your insurance company may reimburse you fully or partially for services rendered. Pelvic Reset always provides an itemized bill upon payment to provide to your insurance company if you wish.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, credit card, debit card, check, HSA, and FSA.
Can you work with me if I have Medicare or TRICARE as my insurance?
Yes, but there are some specific requirements that we must take into account. Be sure to mention this upon scheduling your free phone consultation and initial evaluation.
Do I need a referral or medical script?
No, we can start therapy prior to obtaining a medical script, however it must be obtained within 30 days of starting care. We highly recommend scheduling an appointment with your doctor prior to your initial evaluation to avoid any gaps in your care plan and progress. Scripts must be written by a physician (MD or DO), CRNP, PA-C, or a Certified Nurse-Midwife, especially if you're looking to submit for reimbursement.
What type of prescription/script do I need to begin or continue therapy?
You will need a physical therapy or combined physical therapy/occupationaltherapy script. Scripts can be faxed to 717-326-1844.
Will you do an internal examination?
I HIGHLY recommend internal examinations (we will chat about this in depth later) to determine what may or may not be important to address in regard to your symptoms, however we will work within your comfort zone and consent while only performing the relevant examination techniques that make you fully comfortable. We may agree to do it in the initial evaluation, first subsequent visit, or when we mutually agree it to be beneficial. You are always welcome to have a support person present.
What type of space would I need in my home for therapy?
We suggest a private room (one that locks if you wish) with an area to accommodate a massage table with room to walk around.
How long does it take to see a difference in my symptoms, or how long are patients usually in pelvic floor therapy?
IT DEPENDS. Most of our patients see a difference in their symptoms within 24-48 hours but it can vary depending on symptom quantity, severity, awareness, and duration. Many women notice the largest initial or most consistent difference in their symptoms around 6 weeks.
Can I participate in pelvic floor therapy if I am actively pregnant?
YES AND PLEASE DO! Pelvic floor therapist follow the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (ACOG) Guidelines avoiding internal pelvic floor muscle assessment and treatment in the first trimester unless indicated by a physician or other medical practitioner.
How soon can I start pelvic floor therapy after I deliver my baby?
You can honestly start therapy as early as you'd like, as long as you have no specific medical limitations after birth per your OBGYN or midwife. Hormones change and healing occurs at a rapid rate immediately postpartum, so my suggestion is that if you are not in moderate to severe pain, maybe wait a few weeks until you are mentally ready - but this is a great phone consultation or in-person conversation to discuss further and weigh your individual needs. Pelvic floor therapists do not perform internal pelvic floor muscle assessments and treatments until your OBGYN or midwife clears you to resume penetration. We can always work breast feeding, pumping, or bottle feeding into your session - don't sweat it!
